Anzer Ayoob

Anzer Ayoob is a Kashmiri journalist and author. He is the founder of The Chenab Times.[1][2] He has contributed to several news organizations such as The Diplomat, Mongabay, and The Wire (India).

Career[edit | edit source]

Anzer Ayoob's career in journalism began at the age of 16 in 2015. However, in 2017, he had to discontinue his education due to his mother's declining health, becoming the sole breadwinner for his family. Anzer started writing about regional issues for local publications, later gaining opportunities for internships with media outlets. In July 2017, he founded his own media portal named The Chenab Times," aiming to provide a platform for marginalized communities and shed light on overlooked voices in the District Doda.[3]

Anzer has contributed to several news organizations such as The Diplomat (magazine), Mongabay, The Wire (India), The Quint and more.[4] He raises concerns over various issues in Chenab Valley.[5]

The Chenab Times[edit | edit source]

In July 2017, Anzer founded The Chenab Times which is known for publishing news in the Bhaderwahi and Sarazi languages. In January 2021, the portal launched its daily news bulletin in Urdu, Sarazi, and Bhaderwahi, for promoting the cultural heritage of the region.[6][7]

Personal life[edit | edit source]

Anzer Ayoob was born in 1999 in Thathri. After dropping out college, he founded The Chenab Times in 2017.[8][6]
